Agreed!

In the "Crooks Like Us" book which contains many photos from the same source, there are several truly frightening villains, including one massive-headed fellow wearing the 1930s equivalent of a Thom Browne suit (4 inches of wrist!). The note on the photo helpfully points out that his street name was "Shark Jaws," and a more fitting moniker I've rarely heard.

Fascinating pictures, thanks. I found it interesting how many of them appeared (as far as one can tell from a photograph) to be wearing knitted or woolen ties.

Yep, a guy might only have one suit back then.

That style is still made - some modern companies call it an "Ainsley" collar style. I agree it looks smart, though. I have a vintage collar in that style that I'm debating having copied.

That's a mug shot for GQ.

Like the suit on the short guy W. Thompson. Looks great... kinda Huntsman with big (peak?) lapel... Slick. (No break in the trousers, but I can forgive that.) J
