first time user, my inner nerd has resurfaced now that season 2 has begun. started reading the books in the early 2000's when i was 12, needless to say, AGOT had quite an impact on me due to not necessarily being a fairy tale, to say the least.
I do prefer ADWD to AFFC, myself.
and to touch on a few other points
Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
I thought it was implied in ADWD that the new kingsguard was some sort of frankenstein monstrosity with gregor as a base, i may be wrong, but that's what i got out of it. they may not need his head or used someone elses or sent a fake one.
As for Bran being the king of the others, i think it's unlikely, however, to bypass the deception factor, if bran could harness the power of the others to defeat all of the starks enemies, it would justify the old gods leading him and training him to do so. not to mention it would finally put the starks on top after 5 books of mostly getting their rear ends handed to them. Like i said, i don't like the idea of a mostly innocent character such as bran having to be the master of a dark power, but it could potentially fit into the plot this way.
