Before McQueen and the rest of the US team went into Germany for the 1964 ISDT event, they spent a few days in London whilst waiting for their Triumphs to be prepared to race spec. On the experience of past ISDT events, Bud Ekins' advised the other US team members to kit themselves out with new Barbour International jackets and it was during that time in London that McQueen bought his International jacket. The International was chosen as the best proven defence against the European weather and had a design that could cope with the rain and mud, making it the perfect choice. Steve and the team wore a Barbour International, with a large Stars and Stripes badge sewn above the left breast pocket.
