I was thinking that a double monkstrap perforated cap toe could look good in Alpine Grain. Same idea as this one from leather sou.

Any thoughts?

I like the sounds of that except for the fact that Alden doesn't make a double monk.

How about a George boot in alpine?

Thanks for the update Keith. Also thanks for working with all of us to move this forward, and hopefully to fruition.

Oh... :embar:

George boot could look good, but it's just not something I'd be comfortable wearing.

OK, updates. For those of you interested in the whiskey Indy, please PM me your email address. I will be forwarding that information along to Kathy at Alden D.C., as she'll need it for invoicing purposes. For the Ravello cap toe, I haven't heard back from Steven at Leffot yet. If I don't hear back by the end of the day today or tomorrow, I'll give him a call to see what the next steps are. Cool?

Ravello Cap Toe Update

Just got off the phone with Steven at Leffot and got more details on the ordering process, timelines, etc.

He has asked that we specify whether the 360-degree welt should be a flat welt or a reverse welt. Here's an example of the Ravello cap toe with a flat welt:

With a storm welt, there is a line of leather that runs along the outside of the sole between the top of the sole (where you see the stitching) and the bottom of the upper.

Once we know how that should look, I'll submit the final spec to Steven, who in turn fills out an official order form and submits that directly to Alden. Alden then reviews the order and sends an acknowledgement back to Leffot. This acknowledgement can take 4-5 months to receive.

From there, Leffot collects a deposit from each interested member. The final cost of the boot likely will run $710 - $725 US, and Leffot typically asks for a 20% deposit. You would send that deposit directly to Leffot; I won't be taking any of your credit card info.

At this point, the order is locked in and no changes can be made. Alden begins work on the shoe. Manufacturing the shoe takes another 14-16 weeks. According to Steven, the whole process can take as long as 10-12 months soup to nuts. That means if we can get a final decision on the welt, folks should have a beautiful new pair of Ravello boots in their hands by the start of Summer 2012.

Any thoughts on the welt?

As for the whiskey Indy boot makeup, please PM me your email address if you haven't done so already so I can get all that info to Kathy at Alden D.C.

Thanks!

- K

Wearing a pair of cigar PTB's right now with the storm welt and have other Alden's without. Either way is fine.

It is probably the same process with Kathy in regards to the Whiskey Indy. Any way thank you my friend.
