And I just got an iPad 2, so the LCD touchscreen of the first edition has lost its appeal to me now. The new Nook seems more stripped-down and more focused on being a dedicated eReader. And B&N claims a battery life of 2 months on this new one! I'm going to have to make it out to a B&N to check one out, but if any of you already have, would be great to hear your thoughts.

Is it actually out now? I thought originally it wasn't going to ship until the 10th.

Checked it out last week. It lives up to the hype. Incredibly light and thin (feels like a small book), and much faster than the classic model. I am going to try and wait it out a couple months, but as I'm a sucker for e-ink when it comes to reading books on electronic devices, will probably cave and buy it in August/September, unless the new Kindle turns out better (and is similarly priced).
