I ordered M, very snug fit in the top block, but not uncomfortable

I usually wear M for a slimmer fit, but I am probably more of an L in the top block

I hate that giant box pleat on the reg fits though, makes me look like a hunchback... And is the gray a true neutral gray like the old oxfords, or the new blue/steel gray of the grosgrain reg fits?

Had a look at the sportcoats, they are starting to stock some reg fit linen in store, but didn't have any xs nor matching pants. The linen/cotton blend sportcoats in many colors also look decent, but the fit was huge on the xs i tried on (in chest and back, shoulders ok). All of the cotton or cotton/poly sportcoats look cheap and shitty.

Cotton/linen cardigans are decent, the large ribbing makes them pretty casual. I've never seen the point of sweaters not made out of wool though, so not for me. I'd stay away from the acrylic ones though--the thick ones from I handled from the winter season felt very cheap.

The fit on the slim fit tapered jeans is totally wack--the 28 I tried on had skinny legs, normal top block, but baggy 30-32 waist. The slim fit straight fit better/normal through waist, top block, thighs, but all the spandex in their cotton ruins them for me. There's not a single pair of Uniqlo pants I would want to wear, they're so goddamn stretchy. Spandex was great for inaugurating the era of tight jeans and yoga pants on girls, but it doesn't belong anywhere near men's pants, esp. jeans. Ruins the drape and they never break in to fit your body. We'll look back on all these 5% spandex jeans like the ubiquity of 100% polyester shirts of the 70s, as a lost generation of clothes.

You're pretty fuckin picky with cheap clothing.

Anyway, medium grograin oxfords came and they fit fucking spot on everywhere. Fitted but not tight or uncomfortable, very shocked. The only way they could be improved is if they were a little narrower at the waist and didn't have that bell curve cut. Now I'm thinking the slim fits will be too slim on me unless they only correct above concern. Linen cardi coming with that shipment also next week.

What's your definition of "a little narrower"? Because that's pretty much exactly what the slim fit oxfords are. Maybe like 1.5-2" total at the waist.

I don't understand why people are sizing up for the slims. They're supposed to be slimmer, not fit the same in the waist but slightly bigger in the shoulders and chest...

that would be perfect if it was an inch or so, 2" sounds like a lot

i think the reason is the old oxfords were such that you couldn't fit into the same size in the reg and slim, tho I wasn't into the oxfords back then

I just picked up a linen shirt and some of those Airism shirts to where under my varsity and moto jackets for the spring.  They look like opposite heat tech and are much cheaper than Under Armour so I'm hoping they're as solid as Heattech.

He's allowed to have his own opinion, even if he sounds like a tosser.

and i'm allowed to say it's highly anal

anyone want my pink grosgrain oxford size large worn once and washed for 15 shipped?

jet

if you ordered a medium in the slim fits, it maybe too small. if you ordered a large, i call 'safe'. i am a small in the regular fit and apparently a small in the EFC slim fit. but these slim fit with the grosgrain collar makes it out like I am a medium.

looks like I need to replace my slim fit OCBD's as they did away with the box pleat of the new iteration. even though i have the extra fine cotton (EFC) slim fit, it stills has the box pleat and with the darting i added, exemplifies the box pleat in an odd way depending on my body angle.

i think i look pretty great with shirts that have double darting in the back, fwiw. looks like i need to grab a few new size mediums when they re-stock.

now i will know how you feel jet during the waiting period ffffuuuu.gif

Those slim fits are looking a lot like an hourglass in the body.

I don't seem to have the turtle-shell problem as badly with the new oxfords, not sure if it's cause they fit a bit better in the chest and shoulders or what.

Thought about trying a slim one but I'll let you guys sort the sizing out first.

i think my slim oxfords finally arrive today.  being on the west coast, you get a solid 5 business days of travel for the fedex ground shipping.

Are the shoulders any bigger on the the regular oxford? After washing my slim large a few times, I think I may need to size up and just tailor them since it's a bit snug on top.

If I'm a M in them I doubt you're a large.  Go up to XL probably.

The chest fits okay and the waist is actually loose, but yeah, I think I need an XL for the shoulder width.
