i'm not surprised

while their basics and quality are great, but in terms of innovation and variety, they lose out badly to H&M, recycling the same old styles/color every season.

a little off topic but thought i'd ask here

anyone have a invite for grana? looking at their scoop neck shirts

how much do these shrink?

Does anyone have the Lemaire Pleated Shorts? How are they? I have the Lemaire Chino Shorts, which I think has very thick material, almost too thick for shorts and the summer.

I totally agree with this. Uniqlo has great quality for it's price point but generally only their basics are worth buying. I'm a big fan of their basic tank tops, which are slim cut and great for the gym. Their patterned socks are great for work as well. Their boxers and trunks are very well made too.

However, there's nothing from Uniqlo that I would wear for a night out in town. Their range is much too conservative and neutral.

I have a grana invite if you'd like. I just picked up my shirts so not sure how much they shrink. I really like the fit pre-wash.

PARIS, France — Christophe Lemaire is joining Uniqlo, the Japanese purveyor of colourful, well-designed basics, as artistic director of a new Uniqlo Paris R&D Centre. He will also design a new Uniqlo line, dubbed Uniqlo U. Previously, Lemaire (together with Sarah-Linh Tran, his partner in life and work) worked with Uniqlo on the brand’s “Uniqlo and Lemaire” collection. But the new design centre and line are reflective of a much deeper partnership. The first Uniqlo U collection will be unveiled during Paris couture week in early July and hit retail stores for the Autumn/Winter 2016 season. Lemaire will continue to design his namesake label.

“I am delighted to welcome Mr Christophe Lemaire as a member of the Uniqlo team. I have time and again been astonished by his outstanding talent in working together to create the Uniqlo and Lemaire collection. I look forward to seeing more of the innovations that he inspires, and I am confident that his tremendous experience and talent will thrive at Uniqlo,” said Tadashi Yanai, chairman, president and CEO of Fast Retailing, Uniqlo’s parent company.

The announcement is a significant step for both Uniqlo and Lemaire. It also tells a potent tale about fashion’s shifting tectonic plates. For 25 years, Christophe Lemaire has bobbed and weaved through the industry, interning with Lacroix, Saint Laurent and Mugler, designing under his own name for ten years before a decade-long stint with Lacoste, then resuscitating his label while he succeeded Jean Paul Gaultier as creative director at Hermès. The party line when he left Hermès after four years was that he wanted to focus on his own business. So, when Lemaire first signed with Uniqlo, it seemed logical enough to assume the result would be another of those heat-generating designer collaborations that blows up fast, cools down just as rapidly, and hopefully leaves its namesake with enough money to underwrite his continued independence. Except that’s not what happened.

^ That's good news. I personally liked Lemaire's Uniqlo FW15 collection rather than the recent SS16 one.

Anyone own the joggers? Are they decent?

Bought a few pieces of the Lemaire Uniqlo SS16 collection recently - they're on sale at Uniqlo UK atm. Liking the sweaters and shorts - good quality, good pricing when on sale - worth a go. Definitely think the shorts are better quality than Uniqlo standard chino shorts.

Definitely.

The seersucker fabric used in the pleats, S/S shirts & Suits are go-to hot weather staples.

Liked them so much that I got whatever color way I could find available sizes in.

Popped by the Uniqlo store in Singapore the other day and tried on their new range of chinos 'Ultra Stretch Chino Flat Front Pants'. They fit awesomely, very flattering slim cutting, ending with tapering at the hems. The waist are super stretchy and comfy as well.

Not sure if they are available in other countries as well. Will post up a pic of myself wearing them once they are back from length alteration (free at the store).
