Warm weather clothes

Is there a dignified way to wear shorts? I need ideas for warm weather dressing. I'm familiar with Linen, but can you guys point out some ideas for 90 degree weather? Not looking for resort wear but doesn't have to be strictly professional either. Thanks

cooper collar shirts from paul stuart or blue and white butcher stripes.(maybe more MC) short sleeved safari shirts plaid? gingham? i like red and blue checks. sunspel polos navy striped t-shirts? a technical jacket from nau or cotton cafe racer maybe a linen blazer from engineered garments maybe LBM? 5 pocket chinos linen jeans vans authentic in medium blue or cream jack purcells/ supergas maybe desert boots/ boat shoes though i don't own any bucks? i just wear regular brogues but i am looking for something better suited to hot weather. some people look good in shorts. not me i look like a big kid. i'd never wear shoes with them to avoid the big kid look but that's just me. seersucker shorts are interesting, also reds. i'd like a green pair of board shorts.

This is a good question. This is much easier for women because of sun dresses and the like. They can dress for warm weather and be dignified. For men, it's a little harder.

madras, linen, lowtop, thin non-leather shoes, light colours, you're golden also, its not always cooler to go with short sleeves/shorts. Sometimes it's better to have fabric between your skin and the sun.

White or grey jeans. Low top sneakers, tees or poplin dress shirts, light sportcoats or light, unlined jackets like Lanvin does.

Great thread. Where can I get some linen pants?

It gets retardly hot in my region (35+), so jeans and shirts definitely would have to go. I just rock it casual in the summer, graphic t-shirt, shorts, boatshoe (it helps that I am pretty fit too)

Summer jeans can be quite light, same for shirts (dress or otherwise). I wear these in places that are quite hot and I'm ok. There is no excuse for wearing boat shoes outside of boats.

TBH, one of the biggest keys to pulling off shorts is to have decently in shape legs. I'm in South Florida.....in summer it's just v necks, shorts and sneaks if you're just hanging out. I'd rather have a simple outfit and not be pouring sweat. Depends on where you're at though. Some people's 'summer clothing' is completely different than somebody with 95+ weather and ridiculous humidity.

Boat shoes that don't have Sperry written all over them can be quite nice. Allen Edmonds makes some good ones, and people on here rave over Quoddy.

You're not going to change his mind on that one. He likes them about as much as I do

fuuma is correct, you don't need to wear shorts and a tank top although that is probably the most effective way to beat the heat and it is something I often do when I'm in Florida or NYC during the summer. There is definitely plenty of lightweight stuff out there though. Ervell's summer jeans are pretty decent, you can find other stuff cheaper and much more expensive that is also light weight, just do some looking, it helps to be familiar with SW&D brands; you can always also go mall brand, Uniqlo, UO, H&M, Zara etc make tons of poly-cotton linen mutant blend things that are super thin and light and should last the season. +J SS10 is full of 3/4 and half length pant-short-esque things. Light slacks in any material are pretty comfy IMO. You can always take your slacks and cut them into shorts, works very nicely.

Just wondering about the Boat shoe hate? Is it just to waspy for you? I wear Allen Edmonds boat shoes all the time in the summer. I might be too old for sneakers and I don't think men should wear sandals unless they're within 100m of a beach. Respect your opinion so would appreciate a good argument against boat shoes, even if I don't agree with it. Please send links to light weight jeans. Have madras and linen... also trying to think of linen pants that aren't too euro trashy or overly "dressy." White linen pants and a dress shirt reminds me too much of Russian people in Nice and Monaco. Love the idea of grey jeans... I bought some Slim Finn's the other day... but I'm guessing Nudie is no longer cool on this forum. I guess I should read up on denim but all of the threads here are so dense I wouldn't even know where to begin.
