Having driven both, I'd say hands down the Cayman S. Although I was underwhelmed by both, I can definitely see the potential on the track for the Cayman whereas the Boxster I could not see any purpose.

And if the choice for the Cayman isn't obvious enough by all the posts, just take a gander at the Techart Cayman...mmmm

420hp and 321fp of torque Cayman S. The price is a bit rediculous at $165k. Or, something a little more reasonable: 380hp Cayman GTR for about $100k.

I love the look of the Cayman. But, if it continues with that horrendous spoiler that pops up at higher speeds, then I would pass. Especially at such a high price.

Without that spoiler, the tail might become unstable at high speed. Unlike those ricers FWD cars with huge ass spoilers, these spoilers are actually there for a purpose.

I would go with the Cayman only because im not a big fan of convertables. Although the price point is very much nearing 911 territory, I would be much more tempted to buy a used 911 for close to the same price as a fully equiped caymen.

Soph, i thought you were an Italian fan? Why the Porsche asphyxiation?

Haven't driven the Cayman, but I really like the Boxster. Yes, not the fastest car out there, but there's something to be said for balance and handling, which are first-rate.

I've driven both and the Cayman is without a doubt a better car to drive. I think the question really is whether the OP wants a coupe or a convertible.
