Keep in mind that most of the colognes recommended here are from fragrance nuts, who tend to like things that might be offensive to the regular Joe, and hate things that others dig.

On the more affordable side:
-Chanel Allure Sport <<< Gets all sorts of love ranging from my little sister and her friends (10-12) on up to their mothers (40-50). I don't think that I've ever heard someone say that they don't like it, and it has gotten the most comments at this point. Base Notes type people will bitch about it being a sport frag and synthetic and etc. They can fuck off. Very summery.

-Givenchy Pi Neo <<< Very similar to the above. While Allure Sport dries down to be sweet up close and citrusy at a distance, this dries down to very light citrus and a touch more sweet. It's fucking delicious. Base notes people will bitch about it smelling synthetic. They can fuck off.

-Aqua Di Gio <<< I won't wear it, but everyone who doesn't know much about fragrances love it. As such, everyone wears it. If you aren't afraid to smell like everyone else (this is the Abercrombie and Fitch/Polo Blue of the young adult and older world) this is a safe choice.
