Montreal F1 Weekend Events?

Thread Starter
I'm heading to Montreal for the F1 race in a couple weeks. Anyone have a list of events that are occurring during the weekend? My googling skills have been poor and I'm always directed to websites that deal with the race, not with what's going on outside of the race.

Enjoy the city. I am not sure what EXACTLY is going on this year, but I lived there for years.

There will probably be street-parties on Crescent St. and St. Laurent Boulevard. Crescent will probably be a beer-fuelled classic rock concert. On St. Laurent, it's usual that each night of the weekend, the street is 'presented' by one of the teams - Ferrari, for example - and local owners of Ferrari cars will have priority parking. There are probably also other 'team events' at various locations around the city, like in the old port, or at place des arts.

There will be lots of people just out and about, walking around and enjoying the scene. Don't be afraid to strike up a conversation, and get some suggestions from the locals.

Have fun!

Crescent blows. Stay on St-Laurent, north of Sherbrooke, and preferably north of des Pins. There won;t be much F1 stuff going on but it will be more interesting anyways.

That was on Crescent last year.

This is definitely where you want to be. I stayed around the corner from here a few years ago and had a blast.

My first and only time to Montreal was for an F1 race in 2007. Had a blast. The town was alive with parties on the mainstrip - St. Laurence, or is that just the river? Anyway, too long ago to remember the names of the places we went to. But it was a great time. Go to a bookstore and buy the Loney PLanet City Guide for Montreal. It served me very well for Berlin. I'm not sure if it's still around or still cool but there was a night club called Stereo or Speakerbox. Enjoy! PS - Do a search of "Montreal" here, there have been many threads here about nightlife, shopping and eating in the city.

@ the OP: How was the weekend?

Ugh, though wet races can be great, getting caught in one is my worst nightmare. Especially one with a 2 hour rain delay. Fantastic race though. Awesome, dramatic win by Button.
