How many vacation days/holidays do you get per year?

Just curious. I have, I believe, 6 holidays, and 15 total vacation/sick/pto/etc. days.

Industry/experience/title are probably useful info as well, so: I'm a consultant, with 9 years of overall experience, 15 months with my current company, and a title of "Senior Manager" (though I don't technically manage anyone at the moment).

Bonus question - do you use all of your days?

This post brought to you by the fact that I haven't had a day off since New Years' (but at least I almost never have to work weekends).

9 holidays
23 vacation days
"unlimited" sick days(i prob take 2-4/yr)

industry: financial sales
experience: been with the company 10 1/2 yrs

do i use all of my days: HELL YEAH!

pls remember that you are losing $$/time when you don't take days and give them back to your employer! you need to SCHEDULE some time off and relax. when the wkend comes or when i am on vacation, i don't glance at my blackberry. Pretty simple.

I have no idea, but I take as many as I want. Unfortunately it's not as many as I'd like.

This makes no sense. I get 20 days PTO (vacation sick and personal) plus about 6 holidays. I take every one of them and agree that you'd be a fool not to to, especially if your company doesn't reimburse you for PTO not taken. I work in an in-house legal group and we're very busy, but I'm at the junior level so feel no guilt about time off. Hopefully this mentality doesn't change when I'm in a management position.

Senior associate in public accounting with about 5 years experience with 1/2 year at my current company. I didn't use up all of my PTO when I quit my old job about 6 months ago. Instead they paid it out of which I had about 20.5 days accrued. New company requires I use 1/2 my max PTO by FYE so I have to take at least 100 hours a year.

current company
25 days PTO
8 holidays

previous company
22 days PTO
8 holidays

Both jobs pretty much don't allow you to take PTO from Mid January through March unless it's an emergency.

^Finally, someone I've beaten! (unless you get sick/PTO on top of that).

When things are split out, I take all my vacation and PTO, but don't take sick days.

We get paid sick days as well, but they waterboard you if you take them.

If I could I would rather have zero days off and just get paid for them, but it is not an option.

10 days vacation, 10 sick days. All federal holidays off. More tenured people have an extra week or two of vacation AFAIK. Planning on requesting additional vacation at my next review. We get paid out at the end of each employment year for any unused vacation time.

Been working for a year and a half out of college...

20 days PTO (vacation/sick/personal rolled together) though through working overtime you can actually earn 22-23 a year.

10 days holiday with at least one of them a "floating" day that you can use any time (this year we have 3 since a bunch of holidays we observe fall on weekends).

They carry over between years but you can't accrue past 20 days saved up (and they don't get cashed out after that...they just vanish). I am unfortunately at this limit now. When I first started...I had this desire to hoard vacation days so that I could take a long trip or two. This has not happened yet and I am at the point where I had to take a day off last week just to keep from bumping the limit. I think I am just going to go do a 2-week trip by myself soon (anything with friends that was started out as a weeklong trip ended up turning into thursday-monday with an early flight so you don't even have to take off monday).

What does a limit on sick days, or even a mix of sik days and vacation mean? What happens if you get sick when the quotum is used up?

a mix is basicaly they say you get x days, use em how you want, but if you waste em you get screwed if you get sick. by screwed i mean you cant be forced to work, but you wont get paid. you may need a doctors note though to avoid any kind of trouble depending on how big a douche your boss is

i get 10 vacation/sick days, and about 20 holidays.

i manage a retail store
