Going to Hong Kong in Sept. Any recommendations on a hotel in the $200 to $300 a night range.

Where do you want to stay?

Kowloon side or Island side? If so, whereabouts?

Butterfly on Wellington is right in the smack of Central. Walking distance from Lan Kwai Fong (if you're into that kind of thing) and all the good stores (including The Armoury).

I've been staying at The Kowloon Hotel in Tsim Sha Tsui on a business trip. Tiny room. Can't recommend. On the other hand it was very central if TST floats your boat. It's below your budget anyway but I wanted to warn.

I stayed at the Lanson Place near Causeway Bay the last time I was there. I wouldn't mind staying there again

Intercontinental. Look into their "Ambassador" program. For $200 you get one free night as well as free upgrades for a year and a few other perks (late check out, fruit, etc). A couple years ago I spent a week at the Interconti in a junior suite on the club floor with an amazing view of the harbour and it was within your budget.

In Kowloon the new Hyatt that just opened up on Moby Road is great and is in the upper end of that price range.

+1. Steps from Jardine's bazzar for good street food and very convenient by train.

YMCA Suites! Kowloon side... close to everything... cheap!

Have you thought about hostels? I always stay in the Dragon Hostel, Sincere House, Mong Kok. TBH I find HK hostels to be much more enjoyable and friendly than some generic soulless hotel chain.

Do you need a huge room? If not the Kowloon hotel is about $120USD and its clean and modern.

I'd pass on the YMCA. Not a big fan of the smell of chlorine and I thought the rooms were a bit "old."
