Signs that you got/lost the job off an interview?

This topic could be about specific sighs/phrases that things went well (or not so well) at the end of the interview, but I'm also a little confused as I recently had an interview in HK which went as good as it could have gone (I typically interview very well). However, after the interview was over (I was the last interview scheduled) they sent me out of the room (but didn't walk me out of the building) and one of the panel said "We'll definitely be in touch." Depending on how it's said, I think that's usually a good sign. I sent a thank you email while on the boat home that evening, and I received a reply from my contact at 11pm which almost seemed like a rejection, though it could have been a language barrier:

Dear Ethan Hawke,

Thank you for your email. It was nice to talk with you this morning. We will inform the successful applicant very soon. I will pass your message to other panel members. Thank you again and I wish you all the best!

Regards,
Jackie Chan
I'll find out about this job before Friday at any rate, so I don't need to consult any oracles at least.

Anyway, back onto my own topic- I find that the more you talk with them, the better the interview. Instead of simply asking/answering questions, if you can get into an actual discussion, then its money. If they just stick to asking questions and don't really have any comment, then you're probably cooked.

For every interview in which the interviewers replied to my thank you emails, I've gotten an offer. Although I've gotten offers where they didn't reply.

Any talk of money, your availability, or elaborate descriptions of the role are almost sure signs you've got it.

I don't read anything negative in the reply you received. The fact that they took the time to reply to your thank you email is a positive sign.

The reply reads very well. They can't exactly say anything beyond what you read. it's positive without promising/implying anything which is correct on their part.

Maybe you shouldn't have told them your name was Ethan Hawke.

If it's a job for being a human whiteboard I'd say you got it.

This can be difficult to assess and no matter how good you do, you may be pipped by a better candidate.

I have gone for an interview recently.

The first panel admitted, with my experience etc, I would probably be able to do the job required.

The second panel, before a very senior guy in the organisation, I gave the impression I read up, researched and thought alot about the organisation. Actually I did not, but I BS very well.

I replied to some of his comments about the job and his organisation, I thought intelligently and not vacuously or being patronising.

1 week later, I was told I did not get the job.

Now, it may be my pay wanted is too high or there was a better candidate, but thats life I suppose.

Other jobs are even worse, despite going for interviews, they did not even bother to inform me of the outcome. I did not bother to ask their human resources of the outcome because if you do not hear 1 to 2 months later, you probably did not get it. But their human resources are pretty ******, I would say.

+1 on the topic of money, your time, and other topics that might be construed as touching on the personal is a good sign imo.
