Okay, just realized you probably took your picture in a mirror while mine is a direct shot.

Which type of tie is the blue solid?

Thanks. Might have to wear one tomorrow wink.gif

The blue is the navy madder number 5. I got it to fill out the in between shade of my more midnight navy and a lighter royal navy. It's a lovely, almost purplish leaning blue.

The suit jacket pocket is on the same side in each of your pics, though, so it appears the stripes are indeed reversed on Murl's tie. Interesting. I've never really paid much attention to stripe direction and both look fine, but I believe Murl's is the British direction. There's a $5 upcharge for this according to the Hober site, so I'm intrigued as to why his tie was made this way if he didn't specify it.

British direction! That's it, it's going up in flames...I'm Irish.

Hahaha. In that case, send it to me. wink.gif Really though, looking at your pic vs. NewShoes', I think I might actually prefer the British direction.

You guys have crazy attention to detail. I suppose I should feel good about a free upgrade...

I'm now curious enough to see how the stripe runs for everyone else on this thread. There are probably at least 6-8 of us with this exact same tie.

I generally prefer the British direction.

See http://www.samhober.com/grenadine-reweaving-schedule.html

Navy wont be re-stocked until next year (jan-feb).

I had not seen that yet. Thanks for that, i appreciate it.

I am thinking of ordering the following:

Bitter Chocolate, grossa: http://www.samhober.com/grenadine-grossa-solid-silk-ties/bitter-chocolate-grenadine-silk-tie-6.html

Midnight Blue, fina: https://www.samhober.com/grenadine-fina-solid-ties/midnight-blue-grenadine-fina-silk-tie-8.html

Burgundy, piccola: https://www.samhober.com/grenadine-piccola-silk-ties/burgundy-piccola-grenadine-silk-tie-3.html

Any advice you/or anyone else could offer on the above?

Edit: decided to place the order as i got too excited.

I changed the Burgundy to a Prometeo weave: https://www.samhober.com/grenadine-prometeo-silk-ties/burgundy-prometeo-grenadine-silk-tie-3.html

Also ordered some swatches of various Macclesfield ties.

I asked for a Classic Tie, 57 in length and 3.5 in width as these will be my first ever tie purchases.

As mentioned above, when i put in my order i asked for a Classic Tie (width is 3.75, not 3.5 as mentioned above), as i am not sure what measurements are best for me. I did leave a note with my height and weight just in case. I just received an email from David with a suggestion on what size to go for. Brilliant customer service so far, which is something you dont get a lot of nowadays.

Already planning out a future order for when the navy grossa grenadine comes back in stock.

Very happy i decided to go with Hober.

NewShoes1: Who did your shirt? Love that collar!

One of the new wools. I think I only have one Hober stripe, and I don't have any wool stripes, or didn't, so I am very pleased with these ties.

I wonder why there is a $5 upcharge for British direction stripes. I would figure it's just a matter of orienting the fabric 180 degrees opposite from normal before cutting/folding, no?
