The chocolate fina is a can't miss, but that's executed very nicely. What's the shirt?

Today's Hober is the midnight blue linen (3-fold construction).  Posted a pic of this tie a while back with a light jacket, trying it with a darker jacket today.  Happy Monday everyone!

I was hoping to have some new tie pics for you guys, but my order got held up in Cincinnati baldy[1].gif. Instead, I snapped this after a very late night celebrating my wife's 30th BDay. Sorry for the crappy pic and mirror smudges. Black Grenadine (Grossa) 6 fold.

New Hobers arrived on Friday (of course I was out of town until this morning). From top to bottom, the new additions are the black madder twill, powder blue and navy houndstooth, grey plaid and dark chocolate grenadine grossa. Looking forward to putting them into the rotation.

Love all of those (especially the houndstooth)! nod[1].gif

EDIT (after further consideration):

I plan on ordering my first batch of Hobers this evening.  I'm looking at the below:

Forest Green Solid Challis Wool Tie #7 Remove (how well would this green work with midnight navy?)

Burgundy Piccola Grenadine Silk Tie #3 Remove

Dark Navy Satin Silk Tie #5 Remove

Navy Blue Reppe Silk Tie #11 Remove

These will be my first batch of solid ties in my wardrobe.  Are there any other materials/colors you can suggest that are more versatile?  These will be paired with navy (medium and midnight) and grey (dark charcoal, medium charcoal, and light grey).

Thanks in advance for any advice.

I don't love satin ties. I think they're okay in the evening in the right color, but I have reached for one maybe once in the past 18 months. Regardless of what you decide, I'd substitute something in black or silver / grey for one of the two navy ties. One navy solid is enough until you already have 7-8 different colors worth of solid ties. I'd keep the navy reppe as it will be more versatile and ditch the navy satin. I'd also get rid of the green tie until you have some more solids but this is secondary to picking one navy tie and adding another color in its place. Black, navy, grey and burgundy are all staples and much more versatile IMO.

I think that is a very nice selection of colors and textures.  nod[1].gif I'm not sure I would wear a dark green tie with a midnight blue jacket/suit but that is probably just personal preference.  Regardless, a forest green tie is a great tie to have in the collection.

I have the dark navy satin and I like it a lot (I'll be wearing it later this week) but it does have a little sheen to it (nothing wrong with that from my perspective but just letting you know).

Other solids you may want to consider are the diamond weaves and the oxford weaves.  I am a huge fan of these and David offers great colors in both.

Last suggestion would be to possibly consider one of the midnight blue grounded Macclesfield neats rather than two solid navy ties (particularly if you are on a budget...if you aren't on a budget then...GET MORE).

Happy shopping!

I think AL has pretty much summed it up.  Hate satin.  Repp is boring (IMO).  Oxford weave is a very nice alternative to grenadine.  Navy and burgundy (not brighter red) are good colour choices.  A silver grey wouldn't be a bad third choice.  Purple works well with navy and in the evening - Hober do (did?) a splendid grenadine purple / black mix.(*)

I have it, and it's great!
