A Sam (and David) Hober Tie Appreciation Thread - Page 162

Nice line of ties.  When I am in my local full-service menswear store, I see thousands of ties all $150++.  I cannot get a burgundy or brown grenadine.  Half are too skinny and thin (Boss, Armani), the rest too thick (Canali) or hit-n-miss (Zegna).  Talbot makes good ties, but the buyer for this chain is just so whacked that I cannot get a solid grail tie like those I see here.

Order coming in a few weeks :)

You have found your haven. I share your sentiment with the fashion house labels. Not good. Hobers are a breed apart. A basic-construction Macclesfield is cheaper than a zegna new tie, and infinitely better--actually better than any other tie I own.

Received this beauty this morning:

Navy grenadine fina #10. Unlined, untipped 7-fold construction. Pure awesomeness. Thanks, David!

And while I'm at it, a shot of my entire Hober collection. Saw a pic like this earlier in the thread and thought it was great, so here's my attempt:

Clockwise from the top: navy fina, burgundy fina, Macclesfield #78, dark chocolate fina, black fina, forest green fina. All 3.5 inches wide, untipped with hand-rolled edges. A meager collection compared to some here, but I don't wear ties often and prefer quality>quantity. (Unless you're pinkpanther and can have quality and quantity. laugh.gif)
