It is a great tie... Quite under-appreciated I think with all the love currently shining of the grenadines... Definitely liking mine. The navy turned out to be more of a medium shade than the pictures on SH's website (or my PC lied.

They have a slight sheen but an elegant one, depending on the light. Gives it character me thinks.

They look like awesome ties, and are definitely on my hit list!

Another member of the 3.5" width club! Perfect size.

Shame Drakes insist on making 8cm ones that are too thin for my liking.

pazzion, as Yowzer notes there is an elegant sheen but it is not shiny.  As you can tell, I am a huge fan of the line. nod[1].gif

There is a dark navy option in the diamond weaves if the regular navy is too light (trying to resist getting it myself).

A quick "thank you" to the posters on this thread, and especially to those who add pictures of their favorites. I don't know that I would have found Sam Hober without this forum and I definitely would not have picked out the ties I have--which are now some of my favorites. Thanks also to Dave for his excellent, personalized service. So far I have: Forest Green grossa #16 Midnight blue w/ off white stripe #5 Dark Purple/Black grossa #35 Macclessfield #84 Dark Chocolate fina #5 Navy fina #10 Glen plaid #8 Just ordered the last three this week. The midnight blue w/ white stripe is a remarkable tie, especially with a light gray suit. The dark purple gets compliments every time. Macclessfield 84 is sharper than it looks on my computer screen--goes well with navy or charcoal. And the forest green grossa is just fun to wear. All tie substantial knots with their standard specs (I haven't upgraded any). Again, thanks.

3.5 inch tie width for me as well. I used to go with 3.75 but order a couple at 3.5 and decided I like this a little bit better. I still wear and love the 3.75 inch ones.

+1 on the diamond weave ties. I own around 5 or so of them and bought the swatch set. There will definitely be some more on the way. I'd agree with others that there is a slight sheen to them but I would not call them shiny. A little bit of sheen can be nice for the evening events as well.

The formatting of my post ... not how it looked on my screen. Thanks, Internet Explorer.

I go with 3.5" also. I can live with Drakes 3.25, but even at 5'7" I think 3.5 is perfect.

Looks like I am one of the few not in the 3.5" club...all of my Hober ties are 3.375" wide.

I'm a 3.5"er as well. All of my Hobers are 3.5 with the exception of four grenadine finas I had made up at 3.25". Oddly, I find even the .25" difference noticeable and wear those ones less often than my 3.5"s.

Same. 8.5 cm is perfect for me.

I hear ya, setting stuff up like this is not in my nature but...it gives me an excuse to add the navy fina to my collection. icon_gu_b_slayer[1].gif

I will try and play. I have the navy grossa and will acquire the navy fina. I'll pair them with a suit and an odd jacket. This will take a week or two...

Today's Hober is the midnight blue with purple pindots grenadine grossa (6-fold construction).  Given the darkness of the background the pindots are...subtle.  Happy Monday everyone!
