The happy conjunction of a package arriving, a sunny day and a charged camera battery occurred today.

These did not all come at once but they are all Hobers:

Black silk, charcoal grey silk, black garza grossa:

Dark blue garza fina, navy challis wool, midnight blue linen:

Dark navy cotton, tartan Irish poplin, madder printed silk:

More pics/details for those interested.

Also, I seem to have accidentally come by an extra set of challis solid wool swatches (CHSOT) if anyone wants it, no charge just send a PM.

I've just ordered my first Sam Hober necktie in burgundy grenadine prometeo silk with a lined four fold construction.

It's for my graduation ceremony in October, where I will be wearing a mid to dark grey suit, with a white shirt and a black academic gown with a yellow/gold hood.

Naturally, I requested a contrasting bar tack in yellow/gold to match my hood (not that anyone will see it) but it should form a nice souvenir of the occasion!

Finding a necktie colour that co-ordinates with white shirt, black gown, and yellow/gold hood was difficult (Manton's 'How to wear a white shirt' thread wrote off most possibilities) but I think the burgundy should do it while also being a colour that I will enjoy wearing in the office with grey and navy suits and blue shirts.

Can't wait for it to arrive - I'll be sure to post pics when it does.

All the best,

Tim

The challis swatch set is now spoken for.

Thanks stitches - I'm sure you'll enjoy your ties. The grenadines are great and I have been waiting for the darker navies/blues to restock in various weaves for a while now.

those are not the actual colours at all are they? did you use a flash?

That picture was taken outside with plenty of indirect sunlight. The individual shots are in direct sunlight. I didn't use a flash at all.

I can't see what you're seeing on your monitor but on mine the colours are probably two or three shades too light but otherwise not too far off .. except for the black silk which is washed out to a grey.

Is Fina more dressy than grossa?

+1. I have dark sienna, dark red an forest green grenadines and they're great. I'd like to add a dark navy to that.
