Whats his next move you think?

Rumors have been flying on Twitter for the past few hours that Nickelson Wooster, the impossibly dapper mustachioed men's fashion director at Neiman Marcus and Bergdorf Goodman has been fired. Sad but true: A spokesperson from Neiman Marcus has just confirmed to Fashionista that Nick Wooster is no longer with the company.

Neiman Marcus will not comment on his departure and it is not their policy to release any official statement about his exit. So until we get a release from wherever he shows up next-we'll just have to cross our fingers and hope he lands somewhere worthy of his style and talent. If only so that the tumblr devoted to him and his style-fuckeyeahnickwooster-has a reason to go on.

I think he's interesting. I wouldn't try 90% of what he does, but we need some people to test the boundaries.

That said, He doesn't seem overly Neiman Marcusey to me. You see anybody walking out of that store dressed like that?

That is maybe why they sack him at the end...

A few points I had heard about their organization / re-organization:

1. Neiman's wants very few employees living in/working in/ from the NYC area. They want everything to come out of Dallas. They might need a few ground crew in the area to work with vendors, but they want everything that has to do with the essence of Neiman's to local to Dallas.

2. He never shared a vision that most Neiman's clients could buy off the rack. While I found him to be fashionable, the average Neimans client is like 60, old money, and wants nothing to do with modern fashion, they want classics.

3. They have scrapped plans to expand BG - for years they were looking at real-estate and trying to figure where else they could have one, and it looks like the concept really only needs to be in NY.

How do venerable firms hire these wankers in the first place? Who signs off these executive brainwaves? They must be tossers themselves.
