Can you explain the difference between custom, golf, and regular fit? My google-fu is weak and I was unable to find any kind of guide online.

my .02 (I've got some of each) - regular fit is just that. Custom fit is trimmer (about 1/2 a size) but also has shorter sleeves (by about an inch). Golf is generally baggier and has a longer tail, presumably because you've got it tucked and you don't want it coming untucked during your swing. Hope that helps!

Golf fit should also have a 3 button front and hemmed rather than banded sleeves.

This is also correct! A standard or custom-fit polo only has 2 buttons and, yes, has banded sleeve ends. Something else too: while all are knits, the standard and custom-fit polos tend to be more casual knits, while the golf shirts are generally a finer, almost two-ply like knit with a smoother finish. My two golf polos are also of a more breathable weave, woven in a sort of wide herringbone (though you can't see the herringbone pattern, it's just the weave) - presumably to keep you cooler out on the links - but I don't know if all golf polos are like this.

Thanks to everyone for the explanations, unfortunately in the meantime the only shirt in my size sold. I'll keep an eye out for the golf polos in the future. I like some of the patterns in this thread, just need to wait for more mediums to roll around.
