Working in hot weather clothes advice please

Hey everyone,

I've been reassigned at work and I'm going to be working audits at an industrial plant in eastern Africa. Here's the problem though: The temperatures range usually between 80 - 90 degrees on average with a low being maybe 75. I need some advice figuring out firstly, should I be looking for any sort of shirt material which would be sort of dressy but can keep me from boiling up? Also, what would you guys wear given if you had to work in hot climates in an office?

Secondly, I'm going to be doing a lot of running around and the dress shoes I have right now, they're killing my legs because of the wooden heals. I'm looking for a nice pair of wing tips which I can beat up and hwich wont kill my knees, any recommendations? I've been through the forum but i'd appreciate some recs, I'm looking to spend about $100 - 160. I've got a fairly tight budget unfortunately.

Any advice is much appreciated,

shirt material- linen
shoes- dunno bout wing tips i have a pair from calvin klein that is okay i got below $100 on sale plus they're rubber soled. but i see a lot of decent white bucks being sold

too casual?

shirt material- broadcloth
shoes- sale shop for trickers? the usual american shoe companies may have something. florsheim or johnston and murphy. even bass or rockport.

Isn't eastern Africa fairly dry? Or do you have to deal with humidity also?

75-80F shouldn't really be much of an issue. Even 90 isn't that bad if you stick to light weight materials.

The thing is stay out of the sun during mid day.

Just wear cotton shirts.
Short sleeves if possible.
Even if you would be in airconditioned comfort, long sleeves would do and a tie.
Dont wear a coat. It also depends on your job and whether you are the boss.
The best solution is see what your co-workers wear.

You are already sticking out like a sore thumb, you do not want alarm bells ringing and for the Afrikans to come after you with a machete when there is unrest.

Light cottons or Linens are the way to go. Keep it simple. As far as short sleeves are concerned ask advice from someone who knows the office. Cultural differences may come into play. Once spent a week in a similar office. Weather turned cold and the air conditioning couldn´t be turned off. Froze ****** off for two days

WTF???!!! If your shoes hurt it is more likely they do not fit properly rather than the LEATHER heels being the cause. Try and fitted at a decent shoe shop before you buy your next pair, you might be surprised at the results.

I've been in those parts and it's very hot and humid. Not all places have air conditioning. Some people do wear suits, but most are in loose fitting casual clothing. I wore linen casual clothing and odd jackets and had a light-weight unlined suit for more formal occasions.
