Short Sleeve Button Shirts--Yes Or No?

I just bought one, and I like it. It fits well, looks nice. The sleeves are roomier than I'd like, but I could get those tailored.

How do I work these into my wardrobe? Do I pair with chinos, jeans, shorts, all of the above?

Yes. Chinos go under the jeans (which are cuffed high enough to show approximately 1" of chino). Shorts go on top, obviously... preferably light blue jean shorts.

are you asking how to wear a short sleeve shirt? common sense dictates that you wear them with pants- chinos, cargoes whatever

btw can get away with straight untucked hems.

pimpmystyle: You haven't been wearing underwear, have you? That's a no-no. Commando is the only way to go. You're welcome.

I wear them with shorts and I like it. I have a pair of bright white organic cotton shorts and I love the combination.

But seriously, as long as the sleeves are fitted and the length is cut shorter than a typical dress shirt for you to wear untucked, it's fine. I wouldn't wear a blue, short-sleeve OCBD like Charles Barkley though.

Just this past Thursday there was an article in the WSJ about this; and in style and practice, I have always been a fan of the short-sleeved button-down as it connotes, for me, some degree of duty/employment. [If you search for "WSJ" and "short sleeves", you should find the May 19th article.]
