When i was in my early 20s, i was dead set against kids. I'm less opposed to it today, especially since i think most good women want kids, and with the right woman, I could see my opinion possibly changing. I also feel compelled to pass on my good genes. Too many of the wrong people procreate!

Even in my early 20s though, there's no way i would have gotten a vasectomy. Even if reversals were 99% I wouldn't want a scalpel anywhere near my penis... They're not even close to 99% reversible though, so fuck that. Just wear a condom and make your gf give you lots of BJs to compensate!

My grandmother told us about the time my grandfather had his vasectomy - he was in the Army at the time (probably in his 30's), and after it was over he had to take a long ride in a Jeep, sitting on an icepack. This, though, was probably around 1950. Medicine has progressed since then, surely?

let me start by saying that I don't regret it, it was a week of discomfort that saved my wife and Ifrom having to worry about birth control.

but, that said - my fucking ball sack swelled up like a fucking graprefruit. and it felt like it looked.

now, I am pretty stoic, and nobody told me exactly what to expect, they said "swelling and discomfort". so, after a week with balls like a grapefruit, I asked somebody and they said basically "no, mine swelled a little but not more than 25% or so", and I asked a few others and got similar reposnses. so something sort of screwed up with me, but after a week or so the swelling went down and all was ok. but I had planned on being back to work 3 days after the operation, and there was no way I could have done that.

I'd cut the cords if I had 2-3 kids, and then have an enormous amount of my spunk cryo-saved in various locations around the globe.

I'd love to see the statistics (if any exist) on how many people regretted having this procedure done... I am sure it is above 90%

Total cost without insurance was about $900 IIRC.

I'm sure things are quite cheap at the Joseph Mengele School of the Doctorly Arts.

I would love to know what cryo sperm costs are.

From everything that I have read, getting snipped is pretty damn permanent. I also have read that the reversal is worse than the vasectomy. I would not do it unless I was 110% sure that I never wanted to have kids and even then I would wait until I was 35+.

I got the procedure done and there are some days I wish I hadn't. I think I am more accepting of it because I do not have a choice.

As for the pain, my vote is for hurting like hell. I was supposed to be numbed up but I swear I could feel everything. At one point I thought I was going to black out from the pain. I did not have the swelling and pain after that globetrotter had. There was some and it was no picnic but it was bearable. I have experienced some discomfort since the procedure on various occasions. Again, it is tolerable but I sometimes wonder if they screwed something up.

I would also like to share that the Urologist that I went to had an assistant that was absolutely smoking hot. It fucking sucked having her there while my shit was dangling in the wind.

Huh. I figured you would have traded one of the Injun women you picked up on the trail.
