Dead wrong... I know of girls that travel from as far as UCLA and USC to work at the Vault and other such places to pay off loans. In college I knew several girls that went into the city on weekends to work at places like Marquis and paid their debts that way.

It is definitely true that there's people of the sort that you describe.. but they are consumers and mothers like anyone else, and a tiny bit of wealth redistribution isn't a bad thing.

My point is and was that in all likelihood his waitress was not using the tip money to pay off college education and rather paying off debts incurred while getting cosmetic surgery. I did not cast any aspersions or even make a judgement as to the merit of the use of one's hypothetical tip. Any hint of the contrary is simply a product of your mind. I'm sure there are some waitresses there that are using the job to help pay off student loans, however, from my experience I've only seen white swans... Nevertheless, this argument is rather nonsensical.
