Hello all,

This is my first time posting, I hope I am in the right area.

Anyway, I want to wear a gingham shirt with a knit tie like Zac Efron does here.

I am planning on ordering a black knit tie, to be worn with a black suit. My question is, should I go with a black gingham shirt (with white pocket square with black trim) or a pink gingham shirt (with white pocket square with pink trim).

I would really appreciate some feedback.

Cheers,
Winston

I'm sorry, I just can't take pink and black. As a college student it brings back fond memories of senior prom where 90% of the guys thought going all black with a pink tie was the most stylish thing ever.

I am 20, it is for a wedding. My buddy who is getting married is 21, and It will be people around that age group. I'm not sure of the location of the wedding. I like the look of the all blue for Efron, and I'm hoping the all black will look good as well.

Don't say black suit here.

Try navy or gray for a wedding. Black is for funerals.

Black is absolutely correct for funerals.
Black is a mourning color.
Black is also a color that SF hates for some reason.
I have a black suit and I wear it from time to time usually
for evening functions even afternoon functions.
Black is fine as long as it's not for business and is something
that I think is nice to have in ones wardrobe; just not as a staple.

This.

The real problem with black suits is that people continue to wear them for non-acceptable functions.

Going out for a night on the city, black is okay.
Going to a meeting in the boardroom, black is unacceptable.
Going to a funeral for a family member, black is ideal.

Black suits are later in the evening party suits or funeral suits. I would never drop serious coinage on one, but having one as an alternative to the conservative business colors is a good-very good idea. And really, if you're out all night and in a suit, there will be alcohol and things of the like....do you really want a business suit subjected to copious amounts of scotch and the night?

Is it black?

It is a movie character and they love black suits in Hollywood ...

Look at george Clooney..

It is indeed black. I kind of like black suits though. Definitely not an all the time thing though.
