Thurston braces size, colour, shape

Hi, i was told that you measure from front of your waistband, over your shoulder to the back. I found that i measured 46 inch. This means i would require a large. However, i am uncertain because i am definitely not tall nor big: 5 ft 8, 150 pounds. Anyone has any experience with the sizes and can advise me?

What do you think of the fact that the brace is x back instead of y? Should i look at other brands if y back is the way to go?

Lastly, is it true if that i can wear with black or brown shoes if i have white ends, instead of black or brown? I am looking at the navy blue boxcloth.

Thank you!

5'8" and 150? Start with a medium.

White ends let you wear them with black or brown shoes. Black ends are worn with black shoes, brown ends with brown shoes.

Personally, I find the x back is better. A y back saves the maker some material but they don't wear as well as the x.

Could it be the pants you are measuring are quite low rise?

Not sure if this is the right spot for this or not...

Has anyone tried the new "multi-fit" braces at Thurston? I have a couple pairs that were ordered when they were still sized, and am wondering how the "adjustable front & back" models are.

Many thanks.

Go to the source, sir. I sent similar questions to Thurston via email about a year ago. They responded almost immediately and talked me through the measuring and decision-making process.

Uh, he asked this question 8 months ago and Thurston has since changed to a one size fits all design as noted above. I'm curious about the new product as well.

IME, this depends on the slope of one's shoulders. The Y back works better for me.
