Santoni Goodyear Hand-Antiqued Captoe Brogues + Edwin Clapp NOS Ostrich Spectators

Hello again, friends. 1) First, here is my pair of Santoni Goodyear Hand-Antiqued Captoe Brogues. First of all, the Goodyear line is now Santoni's 2nd highest line. Only the Limited Edition Shoes (that retail for over $2500) are nicer. The Goodyear Line has jumped over the regular Fatte A Mano line, which features more limited hand-work. These retailed for approx. $1050.00 at Nordstroms. Second, If you've ever dealt with Santoni Goodyear, you KNOW they blow away the other Italian makers at this price point. Nicer than Ferragamo Tramezza. Nicer than A. Testoni Black Label. What really sets them apart is the incredible HAND-ANTIQUING. Please look at the pictures to see what I'm talking about. Actually, I'd keep these, but they're similar in shape & color to 2 other pairs of shoes I have. Anyway, down to business... They are hand-marked a size 8 1/2D US sizing, and they fit TRUE TO SIZE. The sole clearly is marked, "Santoni Goodyear", indicating the line they are from. They measure approximately 12 inches long x 4 1/2 wide (at widest point). **PLEASE keep in mind that the 360 degree goodyear welt adds a bit to the outsole dimensions. Asking $275.00... $249... $225 shipped CONUS. Please contact me for International Shipping. 2) My New-Old-Stock Edwin Clapp Ventilated Spectators, in Ostrich Skin & Mesh. Of course I needed SOME kind of exotic skin in order to buy them. New-Old-Stock, although the heels are disintegrating somewhat & will need to be replaced. Made in the 1950's, the ventilated mesh is a fabulous way to let the breeze in and cool off your feet in the warm summer months. These are truly EPIC, and you will NOT ever see a pair like this again, especially not NOS. I bought them for my 8 1/2D feet. Sadly, they are a touch too narrow, and I refuse to try to stretch 60 year old beauties like these. Marked an 8 1/2B, they would fit an 8D just fine. Asking $499... $425 shipped CONUS. Please contact me for International Shipping. Any questions, please ask. BUMPS & COMMENTS ARE MUCH APPRECIATED!!! 1) 2)

A couple of questions: 1-What makes you say that "the Goodyear line is now Santoni's 2nd highest line. "? 2-If this is a recent occurrence (as ur words seem to imply) how does that pertain to the shoes you are selling which seem relatively old-i.e. very possibly before such change occurred (if ever)

The shoe model is the Remington. About 6 months ago, I bought the shell cordovan version (the Remington 2) from Shoe Mart. It is every bit the equal of my RL/C&J Darlton.

Somebody hasn't scored these yet? If they were my size, I'd scrape it together!

Correct me if I am wrong. Remington is not from the "goodyear line" which sells for about $1050, even though they have goodyear welt. All current "goodyear line" have the word "goodyear" inscribed on the insole. These don't.

Nevertheless, great looking shoes and no doubt high quality built. Good luck with the sale!

I'm not sure what line it is from as I really don't know that much about Santoni shoes. Your theory sounds correct though, as my shoes do not have Goodyear inscribed in the insole. My shoes do have Goodyear inscribed on the sole of the shoe. When I bought my shoes from The Shoe Mart, they had the retail price listed as $695, but they didn't even have them listed as shell cordovan. They looked like shell and I inquired and the sales rep said they were.

You're right; they are great looking shoes. Very substantial. "Sho nuff" seems to be the Santoni expert around here. Maybe he'll chime in.
