Best $400-$600 Suit

Thread Starter
I'm in the market for a new $400 to $600 suit. I'm looking for something with the best material and fit. I'm 5'8" 150 lbs and usually a 38S with 31 waist so I'm looking for a fairly slim-cut suit. I've tried Pronto Uomo but I wasn't too impressed with the cut or finish.

I've pretty much narrowed it down to J.Crew Ludlow and Brooks Brothers Regent. Which one do yall prefer? What other brands in my price range should I be looking at? Thanks for the help.

I'm not sure if you're properly gauging your expectations. "Best material and fit" for $600? You're simply not going to find that 1) New and 2) without additional expenses for alterations. If not BB Regent, get a deal on a used suit and take it to a tailor.

You're best looking at B&S for that price.

+1. Don't consider the J Crew suit.

You have two options:

1. Settle for something of lesser quality and fit but buy it sooner.

2. Spend some time learning your true size and measurements. Once you've learned your true measurements (took me some time), you can buy online and get much better deals.

Hugo Boss? Benjamin?

The best $400-$600 suit is a $1600 suit from a maker who fits you well and is marked down 70%.

Get your girlfriend to give you a Dior suit. I hear they are nice.

Nordstrom's semi annual sale is coming up in about a month. You could probably get a good deal on a suit there.

There's a NWT Canali for $665 on ebay.

If you live in New York, Roger Baron of the Hong Kong tailor 'Lee Baron' will be coming to town in May and they charge around there for a suit depending on the fabric you choose. Let me know if you need the details.

I love how basically nobody is able to give this guy a straight answer.

Tony Romo's #1 and cruxisfalcon seem to work as exactly what this guy asked...but it doesn't actually tell him what to get.

I bought a Daniel Cremieux Signature (Loro Piana) for the low end of that price point. I am very happy with it. $400-$600 can get you a good quality suit that fits, so don't let anyone talk you into spending more if you have a budget.

I've gone this approach and done well. Just make sure you know your measurements.
