That is weird that they said no to your request. If it is not on the postcard then they should be able to accept the discount. However, I live in the US and am not sure if BB is something different than what is in your country. I can ask my SA when I pick up my slacks on Friday and see what the deal is for you.

This can mess up inventory levels plus cost the companies in more shipping.

This is why retailer are try to get customers into the stores if all possible. So if you have a BB close to you stop in and get your 40% off if not then you will only get the 25% off online. It is good until the 17th.

The problem I have with BB is they never stock anything I want in store! For instance, I'm going to use my 40% off on an ESF OCBD. Of course, they don't stock them so I'll be making a trip to the store so they can order it for me. Anyone who's done this knows what an ordeal it can be. They have to fill out some paper form, take your info, make a phone call and then they enter all the deets into a computer. If they can enter my deets into their system, why can't they make a system that is more streamlined to take orders? Just pull up what I want, access my profile, I pay at the register and boom...send the order. No paper, no phone call, etc. After all of that, they'll end up shipping it to my house free of charge anyway.

I know it's BB and they're old but really it's enough already. Step into the future for pete's sake.

Knowing what I know about retail and how the supply chain work and the cost of goods would be one reason why they don't have what you want in stock.

Example: if store X is selling 15 suit a day and store z is only selling 4 suits a week what store do you think will get allocated more suits? Of course store X now extrapolate that over 600 locations.

The problem is supply chain management and dealing with vendor from across the world. BB pull a lot of merchandise from vendors like Allen Edmonds, Alden, Edward Green all of which have their own retail locations as well as other companies they supply their merchandise and goods too.

Additionally, inventory will get allocated to the locations that sell them the most as stated before. Locations like NYC, DC, Chicago LA, and even Cleveland. Most cities that have a big financial district in political power base. All Of which are Brooks Brothers core customers. Also the more you or anyone else shops online the less a company will place in a brick-and-mortar location. Pretty soon retail locations with be nothing more than a place to showcase merchandise not purchase.

I see this with the Allen Edmonds near my office. His staff will go through the trouble of sizing the customer and explaining the different last and the customer will say they need time to consider their options and then turn around and order the shoes online.

Inventory levels and allocation is a direct result of the e-commerce. As far as "deets" are concerned? I have no idea what that means. Anyway, I use a few men's high end clothing retailer and have developed a rapport and professional relationship with their sales staff that they will bring in items with out me having to ask. If I do not purchase them they ( the sales staff) are pretty cool and just send them back or keep them.

The point here I am trying to make is you have to build and support your local businesses and in turn their inventory will support the addition of sales they get from you.

The two shoes I got last week was something they do not carry in store because of the price point. Peal & Co are higher in price than say Allen Edmonds. However, the last time I was in there I say a rep wearing a pair of Peals and I made a comment about them. When I came in to pick up a suit the rep told me he brought a few pair of them in for me to look at in my size. I ended up buying both pair, the boots and the shoes.

I hope I was able to bring to light a few elements that may have perplexed you about supply chain and inventory allocation.

Can my store place an order for an item that is in the sale section online (ie suits & sport coats)?  If so, can I use the different % off around Christmas on it as well?

cheers

That is a good question as the discount % off is usually reserved for ful price items. Call or stop into you local store and ask a SA.
cheers

Was sort of surprised when I went into Bloor Street location. The menswear is in the basement while ladies is on main floor. Doesn't make sense as it's a menswear store first.

Bay St. is the best location hands down.  Best thing to do is visit the store long before and get them to hold the items for you and ring it up for you on Boxing Day.  This way, you avoid the Boxing Day madness and just pick it up after the holidays.

Well, I was able to get 40% off on a Filson 257!  The SA at the Bloor St. location offered to make an exception for me.  I guess persistence pays off.

I had hoped they would. Goes to shows what building a business relationship will do for you. Remember that the next time you wanted to order something online and give that store your business.

There was a nice holiday party throughout 346 tonight. Lots of activities for kids and the Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis.

There is a new sale going on at Brooks Brother now and until the 23rd 25% off most item even shoes ( except cordovan and Edward Green) however, Peals and Allen Edmonds are including in the sale. Women's have select item at 40% of. I would check with you SA. Not sure if it is for online item.

I'm guessing (and hoping) this would be followed by an additional stackable coupon on the 26th...

I received my after Christmas sale flyer in the mail yesterday.  There's an additional 15% off of your purchase on 12/26 and 12/27.  From memory, the highlights were 40% off "selected" suits/sport coats and 40% off when you purchase 4 or more ties or shirts.  I think it was 25% off of 2 ties or shirts if you wanted to buy less.  I didn't see anything about shoes.  I want to say accessories, women's items, and kid's items were 40% off as well.

Thanks for the post 40% off + 15% on accessories would be pretty epic. I'm guessing Filson would be excluded....but I think there are probably some nice items to be had at that price.
