The best sale they had was the 5 days of giving in which each day certain items were on sale. Last week I got two pairs of shoes Allen Edmonds cap-toe 245.00 and Peal & Co cordovan for 365.00

Yeah, I got the thing in the mail, but I'm an hour drive from the nearest Brooks Brothers and it's not worth it to save an extra 15% I was thinking of buying a gift for my grandfather with the extra discount, but without it I'm sure I can get something from somewhere else in the same price range, considering how much BB usually marks things up.  It can't hurt to try to call them, so I'll do that, but otherwise I find it rather obnoxious to be mailed a coupon that I can't use.

Are you talking about the mailer you received which is for 15% of? If so I am sorry as that is an amount I have not seen yet. Unfortunately, I can't tell you what other amounts they are giving because it is different for everybody. It can't hurt to call the rep and see what he can do for you.

I was just referring to the fact that the 25% off apparently works online, but the 40% off a single item doesn't.

Brooks Brothers is big on the in store only promos for cardholders. They must want to give their reps the opportunity to upsell.

I will make a call and see how it works and let you know. From my understanding it is 20% off of item one and another 20% off the total sale. This would equal to the 40% off amount. I am pretty stocked up on BB with the 4 shirts for 199.00, 40% of my Allen Edmonds, and cordovan Peal & Co shoes I got last week. As far as up sale from a rep..well he/she can't sell me on something I do not need or want. I am not made out of money but my wife seems to think so..lol.

Like I said your best bet is to find you a good rep there and he/she will let you know what is going on. I have never seen a BB TV ad so I let my rep drop me an email when something is about to go on sale. He told me they are no longer on commission anymore so it is more of a courtesy email. He also told me he has customers he has never even seen in his 30yrs there and all sales are done over the phone.

Glad they're no longer on commission. I always feel guilty when one rep works with me for a long time and another rep rings me up when my indecisive ass comes back the next day.

That's when you tell them you were in yesterday and so and so was helping you. Up to the ringing associate I guess if they credit the original sales guy. At least you tried.

Why they are not on commission any more I am willing to bet the farm someone is looking and keeping track of their individual sales numbers. I work in sales management and I do. Sometimes My rep has been off when I came in to pick up and they always ask who worked with me or they look up the alterations ticket. However, most of the time I will call him or email with what I want and he will place it on hold for me. It is all about having a professional relationship to point where he will bring in items in my size that they do not carry in store just to see if I like them without me having to ask, and even if I do not buy them he is cool with it.

<pedant>

Actually 36%

$100 minus 20% = $80 minus another 20% (of the $80) = $64 (36% off)

</pedant>

37.28% if you use a 2% cash back credit card :P.

Assuming that's how they actually calculate it.  The flyer I got in the mail just said "40% off one full priced item", FWIW.

My purchases are basically table scraps. If they want to fight over me, they're welcome to.

Assuming that was a typo since the promo is 25% of the rest of the order. So, $100 - 20% = $80 - 25% = $60

I went to the BB store in DC today and used the 40% off code in store by just showing the email. The funny thing is their check-out machine seemed dysfunctional and, instead of 40% off, I got something like 52.5% off...

post #7380 of 8283
man, brooks must really want me to use this 40%. Got a second email and a mailer to the house. Maybe this weekend...
