Got a postal mail flyer this week for a 20% of MTM event at Brooks Brothers. Anyone have any thoughts or experience with the quality of their MTM product? I was considering getting a blazer made because I love the milano cut but they don't have a blazer available in that cut (and the fitz blazer is a hopsack fabric, whereas I'm looking for a wool more like what is on their 1818 jackets). I recall hearing someone say bad things about their "suiting essentials" program; is that the same thing as MTM or different? Thoughts?

I believe the conventional wisdom is that BB MTM is overpriced. I don't know if 20% off brings it back in line with reality, but now that GF suits are $1900 off the rack (ridiculously overpriced), I doubt it.

BB has a MTO and a MTM program. The MTO program lets you pick the cut and fabric and make changes regarding vents and other minor items. IIRC, it starts around $800 for suiting essentials line quality and goes up from there.

As for MTM, there are many cheaper options available that have received more positive feedback on this forum.

Received a saxxon wool sweater today from BB. I don't know what I was expecting, but I was a bit let down. Maybe I was expecting cashmere levels of softness. How does BB cashmere compare to saxxon wool products?

I don't find the Saxxon wool to be as soft as even my cheapest cashmere. The trade off is that it is hefty (contrary to the marketing), and I would wager more durable than cashmere. Great for jackets.

Do not get confused with MTM and MTO at brookes alot of forum members mix/mash these types up and the MTO is horrible vs MTM. MTM is the same price as any of the OTR stuff with 20%, but custom fit to your body.

On that note MTM based on my experience cant be beat. All your measurements are taken by a speciliaist at the store, then sent off, then you try it on, then if any adjustments are needed the tailor in house will do it.

I tell the measurment specilisit what I want and how close of a cut I want and he listens to me.

On that note its a great deal wtih 20% the non iron MTM run me about 120 bucks a piece or so and I engrave so 130 total I believe with tax for me. I cant find a better fit.......

I bought a Saxxon wool sport coat at the end of last summer @ 75% off and its very durable and extremely warm. A wonderful jacket!!

It looks like BBBF's sale items have been reduced in price by 15-20% in the last few days. That being said, as much as I like the Coniston boots, I just don't think I could get a lot of wear out of them. You might be able to and if so then by all means get them. From what I remember BB will raise this recently reduced price back up during a sale. How much they'll raise it I can't say. They might even pull them from the sale. You're looking at a 60% savings right now. That's pretty damn good. I say pounce.

Anyone looking for Chelsea boots, those BBBF ones look great and I'm assuming C&J.

Only Madison suits and jackets in my size. Overall selection didn't seem too good.

Yeah, seemed to be the same stuff in the sale section as last week. There were some socks I wanted, but I can never justify spending
$3+ for socks. Think I might end up nabbing a scarf as I only have 1 and fall + winter are coming soon, and this will be my first winter here
in Colorado.

Kopped. Figured f&f would be 40-50% off and the 25% kicker so same price and had some credit to burn
