I doubt they'd sell a defective suit without disclosing the defect.

Why does the tag not say Golden Fleece though?

If the overall inventory was rejected for quality reasons, even if most pieces were fine, they probably wouldn't want to sign the Golden Fleece name to the lot, to be safe. It seems they'd take extra care to protect the perception of top quality for their top quality line.

Also, it can hurt a company's ability to charge $$$$ for a luxury item when the same item can be found for just $ at a discount retailer. It weakens the perception of luxury. Perhaps re-badging the suits is meant to stem this effect. Some luxury makers supposedly destroy unsold merchandise for this reason. Other companies remove all signs of branding before donating items to be sold at thrift stores.

A guy who bought one of the Rue La La suits last year did have a Golden Fleece tag on the pants; just the jacket tag had been swapped.

If you don't see anything wrong with the suit, then keep it. You got a good deal on it.

And as a bonus, it's a Martin Greenfield.

^ +1. Pretty sure, though, it's a Southwick. Martin Greenfield confirmed to an Ask Andy member that they haven't done Golden Fleece RTW for a few years now; only MTM. Can you post a pic of the manufacturer/size tags, aspasp?

anyone know if bags are included under accessories either in the daily special this week or during the semi-annual?

I agree that it is a great deal - and yes, the Rue La La GF suits are Southwick rather than MG.

Brooks Brothers gladly provides basic complimentary tailoring to new (edit) suits/ sportcoats (Sleeves, Waist/Seat and Bottoms) There is just small Fees for other work that needs to be done. I do not see a problem of why you can't bring your "new" suit to get fitted in that time frame. It would even still have the tags on.

Golden Fleece and Black Fleece garments get some additional complimentary alterations. No free lifetime alterations.

In addition, it is BB policy to charge for alterations on clearance items.

TIA.

You should definitely size up. 41 or 42 should fit fine in the Milano.

BB charged me to shorten sleeves on an overcoat so beware.

He was particularly referring to suits. Suits and sportcoats get that complimentary (and technically if they are not on clearance.)

There is some charge for overcoats/outerwear and shirt sleeves as well.

Mr. Juan,

When do you suspect the clearance reduction sale will come around again?
