When is the Next Brooks Brothers Sale? - Page 176

I just saw this motorcycle jacket:

http://www.brooksbrothers.com/IWCatProductPage.process?Merchant_Id=1&Section_Id=222&Product_Id=1702208&Parent_Id=1032&default_color=DARK-BROWN&sort_by=&sectioncolor=&sectionsize=

This must be new for this fall as I have never seen it before. Has anyone handled it? Can anyone testify to the fit and finish of this jacket? It looks pretty bad (in a good way) in the pictures.

I like the back of it and the lining but that's about it.

Really? I think the washed leather is pretty awesome and I like brown motorcycle jackets. It is just hard to get a well fitting one that isn't too "biker" I prefer the cafe racer style. To each his own I guess. Obviously more of a SW&D type of thing (I'm not always at work) wink.gif.

Thanks for correcting my statement (I wasn't at home when I posted, so I couldn't check my BB labels). I still stand by the bottom line of my previous post: Ask "Is this suit worth $500 to me?" rather than "Is this suit Golden Fleece?".

I agree with everything you said as well as brown but I wouldn't call this cafe racer. Welll..maybe you could call it that but I prefer the collar like below.

I've seen that tag, and the $1900 list price, on the Brooks Brothers stuff that is sold on Rue La La.

Cannot tell for certain whether it is Golden Fleece, or from the information on Rue La La, what cut the suit is, but they are single vented and show an interior tag describing the suits as full canvas.

ugh.

So i get the heather grey lambswool sweater and it fits perfect, quality and material look good...but the thing has these burgundy ribbed pieces on the tops of the shoulders. It would be so much better without them. Annoying because I'm really happy with it otherwise.

Just received my ESF shirts.

Fit wise, the shirts are not bad.

A bit snug at the bicep and shoulder area, while the waist is still much fuller than I would like, not bad, but could use a little bit of suppression.

None of the buttons are pulling, and the shirt only feels tight when I do extreme movements.

I'll try to get fit pics so that you guys can critique the fit of the ESF on me.

Thanks for the info. Were they Martin Greenfield made as well? Suit's a little too big on me regardless so going to return Thursday probably but was curious as the label doesn't make any sense

Unfortunately, the pictures available were limited and you could not tell from the description whether they were Greenfield made.

After giving this GF / Not GF question a little more thought, it occurs to me that these suits are not Golden Fleece, and it is for a ridiculously obvious reason.

What makes an item "Golden Fleece"? An item of clothing is not Golden Fleece because it was manufactured by Martin Greenfield or because it is fully canvassed or because it may have been made to identical specifications to GF. It is Golden Fleece because Brooks Brothers put a Golden Fleece label on it. So it may be that these suits are the same as Golden Fleece, but they are not Golden Fleece.

FWW, that suit is definitely Golden Fleece - it is one of the Southwick-made GF suits from 2010-2011 that were recalled and then dumped to Marshalls. The original GF label was removed and replaced with the generic one. I believe the Greenfield OTR GF suits were generally made with British fabrics, not LP and other Italian ones. Still, a decent value at the price he found it for. $1900 for fully-canvassed Southwick off the rack however? Ridiculous.

Greenfield, OTR, GF, Italian fabric. Every OTR GF suit I have encountered has been made by Greenfield with Italian fabric.
