September, if I recall correctly.

Can anyone tell me if there is a significant difference between these two jackets? I'm looking at the Brooks Brothers Regent Fit Soft Cotton Jacket and the Regent Fit Soft Jacket.

It looks like the Soft Cotton is "deconstructed" vs. the Soft Jacket's "soft shoulder." Does soft shoulder mean a light padding or is it just another way of saying no padding? The only other difference I see is the Soft Cotton is 3/8 lined vs. no mention of lining for the soft jacket. Is that all?

Regent Fit Soft Cotton Jacket - $448 - Regent fit which is distinguished by narrow lapels and higher armholes. Pure cotton. Two-button, side vents. Three-eighths lined and deconstructed for ultimate comfort and a casual look. Dry clean. Imported.

Regent Fit Soft Jacket - $398 - Pure cotton woven in Italy. Brooks Brothers soft jacket construction offering a lightweight comfortable jacket. Two-button side vents with relaxed shoulder for ultimate comfort. Regent fit which is a contemporary fit with trimmer chest and back width and a higher armhole. Dry clean. Imported.

Can anyone confirm that there will be a Father's Day sale this year? I'm looking for a linen suit and some summer sportswear.

I see there is some debate on the fits of the BB suits, which I will try to lend some light on even though personal preference is a definite factor to take in. The Regent has padded shoulders and a slightly tapered waist to give the slim look. The Fitzgerald on the other hand has a softer shoulder but essentially falls straight down; they both have higher armholes and the Fitz only comes with a single vent. I have a slim client base that, like myself, prefer the overall look of the Fitzgerald after alterations. I have a Ftizgerald SC being altered at the moment and will post shortly for future reference. From this point it would go to our Cambridge (hopsack Milano) to our Milano Fit suiting.
Getting back on topic of sale: The every day vaule promotions will be pulled during our future Fathers Day promotions. So you would be getting the 30% off each suit with the only way to save more being to open an account.
Getting items in store is possible but definitely more difficult during this time and suits are already low in sizes. SA's can hold/pre-sale the items for you to ensure your purchase; I can help anyone as well especially since our Online is already missing sizes.
June 12: Tailored Clothing
-All suits will be 30% off
-All sportcoats/blazers will be 30% off
-All dress trousers will be 30% off
-All dress outerwear will be 30% off
June 13: Sport Shirts 30% off
June 14:Furnishings
-All ties, belts, leather goods, mens personals 30% off
-All shoes will be 30% off (Cordovan, Harry's of London, Edward Greene are excluded)
June 15: Sweaters 30% off
June18*: Knits 30% off
*possible incorrect date
Your all very welcome smile.gif
p.s. PM me with any orders or requests

BBBF sale also starts June 18, 20-40% off

They are made by C&J on the 325 last.

I suppose they are both athletic so to speak, but we are treading into semantics a bit. If by athletic you mean a big drop, you may find that the less padded Fitzgerald looks more balanced on you after you get the waist taken in a smidge (if necessary). On the other hand, if by athletic you mean lean, you might appreciate that touch more padding that the Regent offers. As Sleven said, the difference will come down to personal preference, but I'm not sure if one works for you the other won't after a little bit of alteration. If I'm not mistaken, there are more canvassed jackets offered in Fitz than there are in Regent at present, so that may be a bigger factor for a lot of people (not to speak of single vs double vents).

I'm around 5 10, would you recommend a 38R or Short?

I know much of the discussion here is about suiting, but I actually am facing the inverse dilemma. Moving from a business formal to a business casual (finance, so still conservative patterns and dark pants) office, I need to get 4-5 new pairs of shirts and slacks. I wear a 14.5/34 extra slim BB shirt, but the slim fits also work for me, although they don't look as sleek. I was thinking of buying the luxury dress shirts (Egyptian cotton non-iron imports that retail for $135, not the Italian cotton made in USA that retail at $168). Are these well-constructed and worth buying at $70 (I like several patterns currently on sale) or should I just get 3 of the regular non-irons once they are on sale later this month. I've never bought BB trousers, as I'd always get a 2nd pair of slacks with each suit jacket and would wear that, do the fits roughly correspond to the madison/regent/fitz hierarchy like the coats? The midtown store only had madison trousers, mostly with pleats, I'm a slim guy looking for flat slacks that are lower-rise, does BB have anything for me?

The gabardine slacks are a good deal at $170 for two ($85 each) when you buy them during a 25% off sale that stacks on the Brooks Buy everyday value.  I would try them on, though, to see what fits.  I wear the Fitzgerald/Regent fit suits, but wear the Madison gabardines and find them fairly slim fitting.

Thanks for the heads up. I never have the need to wear jackets/suits at work so this is actually my first canvassed jacket. I slightly regret getting my regular size though, as after a little bit of research it seems like the Madison is quite a full cut, and I should've probably sized down. Any experiences?

If you fit in a Regent or Fitzgerald, I would not buy a Madison.  Even if you can size down, the arm holes are lower, the arms are huge and the thing is a tent.  If you are slim enough to get into one of the other cuts, the Madison cut will not look nearly as good on you, even after alterations.
