To be fair to the special little OP, that is a serious annoyance. At least half of the point of a sandwich is ease of use, so to speak. It's supposed to be a no-fuss, no-mess kind of meal. Super-crusty breads practically shower you in crumbs as you eat the sandwich, which is . Also, a lot of restaurants don't understand the concept of proper bread-to-filling ratios. Four inches thick of bread, and a half inch of filling, is way out of proportion.

Have Mommy cut it up and chew it for you.

sounds like you had quite the challenge consuming your crusty sandwich. I use a knife and fork for sandwiches and find it easier, also minimizes the risk of contaminating the sandwich by using hands.

There's not much in carbs that I like more than a freshly baked lusciously soft bread with a delicious crispy crust. And some butter. And marmite.

So, FU OP.

This is the key point here. Crusty bread has its place, but not as a vehicle for chicken salad or any other soft food. Slices of deli meat would be the better choice for a crusty bread. Chicken salad, like all foods enjoyed by poor people, should only be eaten on soft Wonderbread or the Sam's Choice alternative.
