you should leave a comment along the lines of "when I text you, it's usually because I don't want to be invested in an actual conversation with you. sorry"

IMO, "diversity" does not really mean actual diversity, but is a code word. If "diversity" really meant "to be diverse" Asians would qualify for affirmative action. Poor whites from rural settings would too. I have noticed in recent years even "diversity" folks have realized the hollowness of this mantra and changed to "under represented minorities" and the like, because you know, we don't want them over represented minorities fucking things up.

So the inconsistent premise is the one that usually goes along the lines of, "We benefit from diversity and therefore take steps to ensure a diverse student body/work force." If that was true people from Appalachia would all be heavily recruited and have easy admittance to prestigious schools and structured retention programs to help them succeed at something they probably were ill prepared to succeed at. What that diversity premise really means is, "We think we need a certain number of black and hispanics, along with the occasional trans person to liven things up, for us to feel good about ourselves."

Or something like that.

People blaming Li Ka Shing (richest man in Asia/Hong Kong) when a typhoon (hurricane) does not lead to a day off work.

They say he has a force field up that deflects typhoons...

my friend: Why must people continue to refer to dogs that they have left tied on the street when they go into a store as "stolen"? If you leave your dog somewhere unattended, at best you lost it and at worst you neglected it. Would you leave your child or your iphone tied to a post in front of a store and expect it to be there when you get back?

her dumb friend: So leaving my dog on the post for two minutes so I can get a cup of coffees means that any one can take him?

me: no, but you're asking for it. dogs sell for far more money than bikes, and they are much harder to secure with proper chains (no nylon leaches or collars, remember) and locks. Thieves know this. If your coffee is so important, buy a machine on Amazon for $29.95 and give Fluffy a hug of assurance that you'll never risk it.

her dumb friend: I would have never thought to buy a coffee machine.

Totally agree with your friend, and you for that matter.

Dogs without papers do not sell for more money than bikes. Where did you get that nonsense from?
Am I the only one who lives in a city where dogs don't get stolen?
