Things your dumb friends post on facebook - Page 191

To be fair, most of the random pin up models posted on here probably came from some tumblr, which pulled them from some random facebook page, which is not so different from what happened here.

Also, normal people don't take photos like that and post them on facebook. Probably is a model of some sort to have shots like that taken of her.

Great, in that case, a name would be nice...

not a friend post per se, but a share from one of those car magazines that show off modified cars - this one seems to specialize in those ridiculous "stanced" cars where they get the widest wheels they can find, and then stretch much narrower tires onto the wheel and dial in tons of negative camber to make it sort of fit.

anyway, besides the fact that the entire trend is dumb in its own right, the article was a feature on some guy who won a car show with one of those things and "impressively" put his winning car together in a few short months. why did he not have a lot of time, you ask? well it's because the original car got totaled when one of his stretched tires broke its bead and completely failed. luckily he walked away from the crash. so what does dumbass do, having being cheated of the 2013 Darwin Award? yep, went right in and made a new show car with even more ridiculously stretched tires.

A rule that Brits have grasped but America struggles with: the man who spends thousands "improving" his car in a way that lowers its value and increases the cost of running, is a man with little brainpower at his disposal.

Yeah, you Brits understand this perfectly. If only you could teach us crass Yanks a little bit of automotive class:

Seriously, do a google search for "Chav Car" smile.gif

Haha well played.

Every country has its stupid people, and some of ours are VERY stupid. I maintain though that modded cars run maybe 1 in 5000 in the UK but more like 1:30 in the US. It was literally the first thing I noticed upon getting out of the airport at DFW

Are cars considered an investment to Brits? If so, I think we've found a major economic contributor to the decline of your empire. Cars aren't investments; they all lose value. Driving a car lowers its value. Hell, just owning a car lowers its value.

I agree that people do some stupid stuff to cars, but painting all mods with a "it's dumb if it reduces resale" is pretty ridiculous given the context in which people make modifications to their cars.

Holy moley, one of MrsG's friends has gone deeeeep into the creationism rabbit hole. The crazy thing is that this woman is holds a graduate degree in geology, so, at least at some point, she bough into all the "evil" (and is ostensibly educated enough to know better than to buy into the nonsense she's supporting now).

She has always been (somewhat) religious, but that never stopped her from being a reasonable scientist. At some point she got a divorce and married a new man who is, apparently, ultra fundie, and it seems her perspective has changed dramatically. Now she's posting about attending something called a "Creation Conference," pimping videos about young-Earth "science," and liking posts about how the features of different animals "prove" that evolution couldn't have happened ("it had to be God!").

There have been some really funny posts, by her, by those with whom she seems to share this particular perspective, and by people who are inclined to call her out on it, so at least I'm getting some amusement out of it. Still, it's kind of bizarre to see her become so "rah, rah, bad 'science!'"

This is very true, however (it may be different in the US on account of the different attitudes) a body kit on a car worth £5,000 would reduce its like-for-like value to around £2,500 or less. It really is like taking an axe to your own vehicle in terms of resale value. Cars already depreciate at a painful rate, artificially increasing that rate would seem like madness.

It's a melange of sundry Hooters waitresses, fitness models, Lady Cats, random hot chicks I've never met, and of course Forvmites. It's actually the less-glamorous people with whom I have real-life connections who post the dumbest, most aggravating shit.

I don't think posting her picture was particularly gauche. Never mind all the model shots that get thrown around here, people have no problem reposting social media pics of random girls they've never met. Well this was a professional model shot of a random girl I've never met.

Incidentally, a Greensboro Hooters girl whose pic I've posted in this thread is now a star in the smash-hit blockbuster movie Birdemic II: The Resurrection.

Back to the dumbness…

A good foie gras is just like a computer keyboard, the buttons with numbers on them are crispy, while the buttons with letters on them are viscous. You can only type up a good document when you use both the letters and the numbers (of which are crispy and viscous foie gras is such a tasty dish.)
