Speaking of God's will, I have to say that I'm continually disheartened by the tenor of a lot of my friends' "God's Will" posts in which it's suggested that you need only wait and God will take very good care of you.
FWIW, this is not far removed from what little I took from The Secret phenomenon from years past (you just have to want it bad enough and the Unspecified Universal Will shall take care of you). Except, you can't really want it because then it wasn't God's Will.
And then some are more overt, in that you're supposed to put your life in God's hands - well, what exactly do you mean by this? Am I Supposed to pray and ask divine guidance on what to have for breakfast that morning? Whether to turn right on red? Hey, God - if you're really going to provide, should I bother going in to work today, or do you have my back on the mortgage payment this month?
I mean, where does this shit come from?
(I say this, while observing Lent, no less. Go ahead, cast your stones, cruel StyleForum).
