I'm not sure such a creature exists. SERIOUSLY.
But, to the first point, a bit of praise in the right situation can keep a good thing going for a long time, though the bumps and hassles. It kind of keeps you upright, so to speak, and serves both as a congratulation for the job so far, and - more importantly - sets the public expectation that you won't just abandon your post.
