Grass-fed buffalo

Anyone have any recommendations for great sources of grass-fed, organic, pasture-raised, free-range, etc., buffalo meat? It's substantially healthier than most forms of beef on the market, and, while the taste is leaner and slightly gamey, I can dig it.

Have tried around with meats from Northstar Bison (northstarbison.com) and Full Circle Ranch (fullcirclebisonranch.com). Of the two, I prefer the latter so far.

Share your recs for this healthy meat that will add muscle to your frame and potency to your wiener.

I was going to recommend: www.kybisonco.com, however they are not entirely grass-fed. It is very good meat though, and very convenient (for me) - as it is next to work.

But it's at least partially grain finished, if not grain fed at earlier stages, and I'm looking for pure grass-fed meat. My goal is some combination of health and flavor, but more willing to sacrifice flavor than health.

You realize that a two-week finishing on grain isn't going to be the difference between and 6-pack and an 8-pack, right?

does stuff that is grass and corn fed have more fat (delicious marbling) due to the higher sugar content of corn? (note: I am assuming that corn has more sugar than grass, my bad if I'm wrong)

No, it's the difference between naturally optimized macronutrient and Omega-3 composition and non-natural macro composition in the meat. This has a whole host of nutritional consequences. Buffalo weren't meant to eat grain. Any feeding of grain sub-optimizes the nutrient profile. Since I pointed out precisely what I'm looking for, I'm not sure why a snarky response is necessary, Kwilkie-san. (Though I still <3 you). For the rest of the thread: Really not interested in a politicized discussion or debate. Just looking for what I asked for. Not really interested in why you think I'm wrong. If you don't have what I'm looking for, post somewhere else.

Buying grass-fed buffalo at the WP Whole Foods is officially the whitest thing ever.

It wasn't meant to be snarky. I thought your concern was with the amount of fat present in grain-finished meats, not some exercise nerd optimalization concern.

Around here, both Whole Foods and Safeway(!) have it, and both say on the package that it's free range stuff.

My defensive comment was somewhat preemptive in nature and not entirely directed your way. Just wanted to head off at the pass anyone else's attempts to turn this threak into some kind of referendum on grass-fed vs. conventional. Last thing I want to do is play the role of Nosu in some threak about my back-to-nature lifestyle.

Whiter than being a white guy who quotes from The Wire? Whiter than listening to Sirius radio's "80s on 8" channel? Whiter than seeing the new Thor movie and knowing who all the Norse gods were?
