Leave it on, except when I'm eating a meal.

I keep it on. Women in suit jackets certainly don't take their jackets off at work, so it'd be a little rude to do so yourself.

That said, if you're holed up in your office for a 10-hour day of writing, etc. I don't see any need to keep it on the entire time.

Greetings - I to in a formal place obviously keep my jacket on - in which everybody's doing the same.

Nevertheless, when working at the office I regretfully remove it but if I am at the office and is about to meet a client I put it back on. See reasons listed below for removal:

- When I'm in the office working at my desk it could be uncomfortable.

- Although I work in a business casual environment but still wear a business suit to work in which can come across as being overdressed. I am the manager of my practice and I try to lead by example. I have some traditional values for behavior and presentation in the office place and believes that business casual is overrated. Generally, staff members that dress casual perform on a casual level.

- It could be a bit stuffy for me to wear a jacket the entire time while in the office.

- When I'm in the office, using a laptop, I like to put my elbows on the desk.

Finally, it is perfectly honorable to remove your jacket when sitting.

really? you guys leave your jackets on while in your office and say typing a report/brief/powerpoint/motion, etc?

Jacket comes off as soon as i get to the office and only goes on for meetings, lunch, or trips to different floors in my building.

When it's not too hot, yes.

It's a necessity to keep it on when meeting clients at your desk imho, but it takes good tailoring to make a jacket mobile enough to be comfortable while sitting and having one's arms out at the keyboard (assuming you want something more fitted than a sack suit).

When interviewing I leave it on. If I am not and in another part of the building its off, that is if the air-conditioning is working properly.
