I have a spot in my yard that would be perfect for a garden, better, even, than the area I'm currently using. Unfortunately, the prior owner planted mint in that area, and the mint completely overran it. Plus, there was a poorly-placed rose bush and some other plant I couldn't identify planted there.
Given I want to plant a food garden in the area, I'm trying to avoid herbicide as much as possible. I spent most of Saturday ripping everything out with a shovel and a mattic, turning the soil, and covering it with landscape fabric/mulch. I'm hoping this will kill everything in the area so I can plant it next season.
It was a ton of work, but it felt good to get it done.
