I have a really bad problem with spending money on clothing
Probably 20-30 grand a year. I dont think I spend money on anything else though. Its my addiction

Add me to the list. The thought is too worrying.

I have a couple of hobby jobs which bring in some pocket change that is purely discretionary toward clothing with no spousal consultation required. I estimate 3 to 4K/year on the average, but it varies widely based on my suit purchases. Being in my early fifties and with a satisfactory wardrobe foundation already, this is about what I need. I shop sales/clearances heavily but not ebay. This works well for me because I'm not in a hurry and can wait therefore wait for quality, bargain items. Virtually all holiday (Christmas, Easter, Father's Day, birthday) gifts are clothing-related and come out of the household (not discretionary) budget unless it is expensive, and then I may offset the cost if I'm feeling generous.

I'm getting tired of living off of cheese and crackers!

For me it certainly depends on what is needed and when. I tend to spend more money on quality items that I only need to buy once. I probably spent $1000 total last year for these items. This year will be entirely different as I retired all my cheap shoes and purchased the upgrades (around six pairs of Allen Edmonds, direct and off eBay). In total, I'll probably have spent $1500 on shoes & care products this year and probably the same figure for new shirts and jackets/blazers.

I'm still hunting for a few suits, two full grain briefcases, and a Brigg umbrella. The last wardrobe project will be saving for the grail watches. As long as the classic style for men's fashion doesn't deteriorate anytime soon, I'll be set for decades outside the rotational clothing items (shirts, pants, etc).

I'm pretty impulsive, but trying to become more strategic. Last couple years it's been +-$25,000-30,000. To be fair, it has sort of replaced my wristwatch spending habit.

This thread has to be shut down. It's perpetuating a 'I'm not alone in this, and thus, everything's all right' mentality.
