So who is ripping who off when they are making rigid trousers in denim and dying it with indigo?

Any company that is using rigid denim + indigo = biteing off Levis.

But on a serious note, there most is def some ripping off in the clothing business. Urban outfitters copying other brands and getting sued for it, the whole red tab back pocket situation on Japenese repo denim, etc. It happens my brotha.

Closed lacing, canvas, vulcanized sole vs. open lacing, leather, stitched sole. I don't get what OP is trying to say.

Depends on the model and the year. Seriously. But in general, I agree that the argument that CPs (or any other designer sneaker) cost more to make, thus justifying the premium price, is absolute bullshit. You are paying for the name and the design, not for the quality, either in materials or make. The amount of leather going into a sneaker is miniscule. Using the best leather in the world would not affect cost that much.

Actually the essential design of the shoes is Paul Van Doren. Alva and Peralta got them to add the padding around the ankle, and since they were ordering them two tone, thats when they came up with the Era design.

Wow, that is some next level shit.

Exactly. Alva and Peralta updated with padding in 1975 to create the style #95. So really the design was from Van Doren Rubber in '66. Been wearing Era's for 25 years. Still part of my everyday, non-work attire. However, they suck for skating, haha. That said, they look nothing like the CP's in the first post aside from color combo... and the Vans are $50.

They're not at all alike.

There is lots of riffing and outright ripping-off in the clothing industry, sure. (There is in just about every other industry, too, from tech/mfg to cinema.) If you want a CP rip-off, look to Marc Jacobs. Can't remember if I've seen a low-top incarnation or not.
