is it possible to fix a shoe that has developed a wrinkle from being stored long term without a tree?

i did have a pair of shoes i liked that got pretty wrinkled, this was before i knew about shoe trees i was about 15. i put them in trees that fit very snugly and polished/conditioned them and left them in the trees for a nember of weeks. if i recall correctly they got at least %95 better. though i assume it depends on the quality of the leather as well.
