right! Hes got about 15 pairs of shoes that all look aching similar and have very little character or interesting design traits.

I don't even know what your last sentence means, but I'm sure I disagree.

how do you know when the pic is from?

i believe the old saying goes, dont judge a man by his shoes. you can however judge a man by his posts.
patrick = not boring.
quadcammer = doesnt know a lot about classic style.
btw, your counting skillz are off. 9 pairs, though im sure hed love to have 15

the last sentense means im gonna figuratively internet punch you in the face and your eye will become black and blue. which for you would be rather unstylish

I typically prefer brown, especially a chestnut color, but I've got no problem with black, particularly when there's some brogueing on it as well.

Well, like most people, I'd imagine that mr. booth is employed, and given that its a thursday afternoon, is at work. hence it would be difficult for him to take pics of his shoes on the floor of his apt/home. Yes, its an assumption, but also an educated guess.

Patrick owns 9 pairs of black shoes that look very similar. Hes also a bit of a prat, but leaving that aside. pretty boring. (I didn't count, nor do I care).

I know plenty about classic style. Doesn't mean I have to like it or aspire to it.

Leave your internet thugging to someone else, cause I ain't impressed

I'm all in favour of non-conventionally coloured shoes, particularly blue, green and purple and it definitely helps when they are dark with a hint of colour to the patina. However, when I look at pics on the interwebz I often wonder if its the kind of thing I'd actually wear (and of course what with?) or if I just like them in a 'piece of art/leather sculpture' kind of way. I think midnight blue would be easier to get away with than anything else, in the same vein as midnight blue used in black-tie wear. As an aside, has anyone else seen this shoe blog? http://the-shoe-snob.blogspot.com/ American fellow living and working in London, at the famous Gieves and Hawkes, no less - some quite spectacular shoes in the archives there. This post is particularly relevant to the topic too, thoughts on black vs brown and whatever happened to burgundy.

So, you start a thread which revolves around your opinion, then you insult those whose opinion is different than your own. Good job.

Making the assumption that somebody is boring based on their shoe color preference is not unlike what 13 year old girls might do to their peers at recess.

You are not one for small details are you? Can't get past the surface of things, eh?

Most of shoes are brown or tan. I do have three pairs of black that I keep in rotation.

However, I have to agree that black should not be worn with navy. Something about it just doesn't look right--almost like wearing a navy blazer with black pants.

I have an equal number of each, but I find myself wearing the brown far more than the black. I wore a black pair today though just because I was getting tired of the brown and realized that some of the black ones were being neglected.

On a similar note, I also bought a black pair yesterday. I occasionally stop into a thrift store or two when I'm out for lunch. Yesterday was one such day and I found an old made in the USA pair of black Dexter longwings in the gunboat style. They look like they were hardly ever worn. After a dusting off, conditioning, and a little polish they look like new. They're pretty cool shoes and I'll probably wear them fairly frequently.

Who knows, maybe I'm becoming a fan of black shoes now after all...
