thanks for the interest guys!
here are some more detailed thoughts and images of inspiration and execution:
contrast heel counter bourton: here is a mcnairy make up as well as two trickers make ups to show how a heel counter can rock..

using the leathers listed on the shoe healer's site, here are some options. for all of the below, I'm thinking antique edging/welt, commando sole.
oatmeal suede bourton, possible heel counter pop colors are dusty pink, pistachio,
dusty pink bourotn, oatmeal suede heel counter. I love that pink suede, with white eyelets, would look great in a longwing to.
here's another make up i like a lot, mixed media cap toe.
i think it works best as a tonal make up, rather than mixing colors. a pop color pull tab would add the fun.

you could do green calf on the cap toe and body, and green suede on the vamp and the heal counter.
in brown you could do tan calf on cap toe and body, tan suede on vamp, and burnished tan pebble grain on heel counter.
the rest are just trickers make ups in suede that i really like.

on this last make up, you could do a variety of things...such as add a medallion on the toe. you could do mixed media as well, tan pebble heel counter, tan suede lace stays, and tan calf upper, with pop eyelets and pop color pull tab.
