i'm in too!

just a quick word on calf here...i'm all for calf but I like the idea of doing shell vs pebble grain also. for these mixed media make ups, there is less of an upcharge on shell as each pair only requires one indiviudual shell, vs the 2 you would need if you did a make up entirely of shell.

i'm not opposed to a saddle, but i think the above cap toe is much more unique and has more potential, but that's my personal opinion. regarding the shell pricing, the only reason i know that is because i've done it in the past, but i think it's a little bit on the hush hush.

Hi just checking in to see if a consensus of the next group order has been made?

New to this thread and very interested in the MTO. However, also new to Trickers--that is, I don't own any. How best to compare the 4497 last?

Best fitting Alden last for me is the Leydon....

I would say I am a true 9.5, 9 on the Barrie, I wear 9UK on the 4497. It has quite a bit more volume than the Barrie last, but it is not any longer. Some guys do size down a full size though...

The 4497s last isn't particularly long, but generally more voluminous in depth and width than a dress shoe.

 

 

Tricker's refers to their UK sizes as being .5 below US, but in the case of the 4497s, regard it as 1 size below your Leydon size and you will most likely do fine.

 

 

Having a short and wide foot, the 4497s last almost feels bespoke for me. Only a slight increase in arch support would improve its fit.

I agree. I'm a 'true' US9D (measured), 8.5D on the Barrie and UK8.5 (5 fitting) on the 4497S, i.e. Stow. However, I take a UK8 on the 4444, i.e. Bourton.

I tried going down a full size US/UK to compensate for the added volume and width of the 4497S, but it just ended up being too short, all while still being voluminous. 1/2 size conversion works best for me, worn with thicker socks. Ankles are held firmly in place with plenty of wiggle room for the toes. I just use a full length gel insole the few times they're worn with thinner socks.

Thanks for the sizing input. The Barrie last is really voluminous on my heel, but fine in the fore/mid foot. It's hard for me to imagine being able to comfortably wear a last that is actually any bigger, even w/ adjustments for socks or heel inserts.

Would it be frowned upon for a new member to declare interest in this order?

 

(I completely understand if so).
