Horace Silver appreciation threak. He set the bar for hard bop piano and IMO is one of the most original and creative composers. Up there with Thelonious. I think he is one of the few greats to record his own music almost exclusively. 1.) The excellent way to put it! I am liking the fact that much consideration to soloists is an integral part of his songwriting, literally balancing their role with that of the piano. Besides, Silver's pieces contain a quantity of the most pretty brass sections and solos I have ever heard.

Man I cannot get enough of Horace lately. Prolific composer. His playing style kind of reminds me of McCoy Tyner's.
